Do you have a lease vehicle with a dent? Today, we at Sioux Falls Dent Repair will be looking at a completed dent repair job on a 2018 Ford Escape. There was actually a sizeable dent on the door as well as on the fender when it came in. The dent was a sharp and deep one that took quite a lot to get out, however, the finished job, as you can tell, is flawless. The paint job on the car is a high-quality ruby red and is finished with a colored clear coat. With this type of paint, it becomes a lot harder for a body shop to take out the dent. The impact of the dent also led to a small hairline crack in the paint, which is not really a major issue, but some people do get concerned about it.

In this case, being a lease car, the customer didn’t want to get the doors repainted and came to us for paintless dent repair. After the dent was taken out on the door, the crack is barely visible – even when we take a close look at it. One of the biggest reasons why the original paint job is maintained while doing a paintless dent repair is that we use 160-180 degrees heat when pulling out the dent. What this does is makes the paint soft and flexible so that it does not crack when the panels are pushed. As you could imagine, if this repair was done without the use of heat, it would have extended the crack further and caused even more damage.
While the door dent can be considered a job well done, the main focus remains on the fender. Believe it or not, there was actually a 16-inch crease dent in the fender and we managed to get it out 100 percent. Even though the dent was not a deep one, it was still very big – something you do not want on your car. After the dent was pulled out, we buffed out any scratches and it looks as good as new.

Removing Crease Dents with PDR Glue Pulling Tabs
Removing and repairing crease dents with PDR is done by a certified technician, who uses a combination of special PDR glue pulling tabs for the job. These glue pulling tabs are placed on the crease dents strategically and pulled using PDR techniques without damaging the body or original paint coat of your car.
The crease tabs range from small tabs, around 2 to 4-cm long, to larger ones, around 10 to 15-cm long. There are all types of tabs — some have textured finishes while others are smooth, some feature softer build materials, and others feature mechanical movements for added flexibility.
They all have a purpose, and certified technicians use them for dealing with the various aspects of different crease dents.
Sioux Falls Dent Repair PDR Techniques and Pulling Tabs for Crease Dents
The certified technicians at Sioux Falls Dent Repair use PDR techniques and special glue pulling tabs to fix crease dents. Here are some of the special glue pulling tabs commonly used by us.
Black Plague PDR Tabs
One of the first innovators of high-quality glue pulling tabs, Black Plague PDR tabs are still commonly used for crease dents at Sioux Falls Dent Repair. The new tabs are green, unlike the black initial ones.
The new green tabs with a straight black cavity for glue provide contrast and lessen the difficulty in performing PDR. It reduces excess waste of glue and enables precise PDR pulling techniques. Their Smooth Tabs Gang Green Edition is also great for crease dents and commonly used by us.
KECO Tabs
Well-known in the PDR world for its durability, KECO Tabs produces some excellent and innovative glue pulling tab designs for crease dents, some of which we use regularly. A KECO tab we use regularly has several slits on it.
This makes the tab flexible and allows our certified technicians to put pressure on specific areas of the crease dents instead of the entire tab covering the crease. One innovative tab selection from KECO Tabs is the Viper Modular Articulating Glue Tabs range.
The beauty of these tabs is that they are modular. Hence, they allow you to add or remove individual tabs depending on the unique crease dent’s requirements. You can also bend the Viper tabs in either direction for more customizable approaches and flexible PDR techniques.
Other Tabs
Similarly, the smaller Ice and Blue tabs are commonly used for dents and dings at Sioux Falls Dent Repair because of their different strengths – Blue is softer, Ice is harder. We also use many other glue pulling tabs apart from the mentioned ones.
Often there are so many choices and unique options, resulting in some tabs not being used for months and others being used regularly. Just like most professionals using tools, certified technicians develop and hone their PDR techniques with familiar tabs.
Over time, they get used to some while others are only used in special cases. Moreover, most dents, dings, and crease dents do not require all the special PDR tabs every time.

Warning: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
We will be working on a 2014 Acura MDX R. The car came in with quite a big dent on the front right side fender and we’re going to use the Paintless Dent Repair method to get the damage out. Before we can get working on the fender with our tools, we have to remove the wheel well liner. This will give us the access we need to get our tools in and work on the dent and damage better. In these kinds of repairs, it works out best if we have multiple points of access so we can give the customers our best work. We did inform the owner of the car that we would be removing the front bumper as well as the headlight.
We actually started the repair by heating up the damaged surface and then pushing the majority of the dent out by hand. Now, you guys shouldn’t try this at home because it can cause the paint to crack and even peel off, leave it alone and don’t damage the panel even further! Once the dent is pushed out by hand, we can use our PDR tools to get out the smaller damage and remove the crowns and waves and all of the small imperfections to make this a true repair.
As you can see, the repair takes a lot longer than you might think and we here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair ensure that your car will look as good as new when we’re done with it.

PDR is most effective for minor dents, where the paint is intact, providing efficient results. You might be wondering what kind of bumper dents can PDR fix. Here is a helpful list that can assist you:
Minor Dents Due to Collisions
Collisions and door dings usually cause minor dents, mostly affecting the bumper of your car. Lease Vehicle Turn In – Do This BEFORE You Return It!
Today, we will be looking at a dent we took care of on a 2018 Ford Escape. If you do follow us on social media, you would have probably seen the picture I posted online that showcased the dent on the car. The car itself is a leased turn-in vehicle which means that the customer was already done with the lease and turned it into the dealership. However, they paid us directly to get the repairs done from us here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair.
When a person gets a car on lease and they damage the vehicle, they more often than not try and repair the car before they return the car back into the dealership. The reason for this is that the customer doesn’t want to be handed a lengthy bill when the car is returned. However, you should always check the lease agreements before taking any car as every dealer offers a different lease and allows different amounts of damage.
Moving over to the fender and the first thing that jumps out at us is the massive 16-inch crease dent. Under the PDR lights, the damage become quite obvious and we will be working on it today. Without the PDR lights, the dent is not really that visible, but it still is there and the customer wanted it out. Most of the scratches can and will be buffed out after we fix the dent.
If the customer took the car into a body shop, they would have been hit with a huge bill because the paint used on the car is extremely high quality. On top of that, Ford uses a colored clear coat on top of the Ruby Red that is used for this car. This adds to the cost of the repair when approaching a body shop.
Want to see what the repairs look like AFTER we are finished, just use the search feature to the left and search Lease, It will come up there.
