Paintless Dent Repair Tools We Use

Our Cart Setup

The back side of our TDN Tool cart is filled with more paintless dent repair tools. These are tools we might use slightly less but are still needed very often. Starting from the left hand side we have an entire tool tray full of Dent Craft whale tails. These tools work specifically between bracing. This tray features multiple different lengths and widths of whale tail style tools.

On To More Tools

Moving to the next tray this one has our go to door tools on it. These are made up of PDR Finesse tools with their ratchet style handles. Featuring a shorter door tool, a longer version (not shown) and a flag style tool seen with tessa tape on the tip. We also have a PDR Finesse double bend tool with an interchangeable tip. The tip on this tool is available from Dead on Dent Tools and it features a red cherry cap available from Dent Craft.

But Wait There Is More

Finishing up on this tray is the Ultra Dent Tools and their Pick tools. These are sharper tools that have and work especially great on Aluminum panels.

Dents and Discussions

Who doesn’t like to talk about dents? Ok so maybe not everyone does but we sure do. We were featured on a live dent related live show last night on Youtube and Facebook. Here we talk with Ryan Shutt at RPS Dent Specialist

About The Show

Ryan, the host, has over 19 years in the paintless dent repair industry and has been hosting the Dent Digest show every Thursday live on Facebook and Youtube. We were invited on by Ryan to chat about our Dent Repair Industry. We discussed some newer tools, did a tool giveaway to those that participated in last weeks show suggestions. We also discussed some of our favorite or game changing tools. Our technician Jack Bucknell was on and mentioned some of his favorite tools where his Daniel Gromm 144 blending hammer with the Endeavor Crown Jewel tips. This hammer also features the Edgy Tools D-Cup Knockers tip. Jack then went to show his second tool would be his scan tool. He was showcasing the Autel MS906ts Scan tool. With this tool he is able to be compliant and follow the vehicle manufactures required scans that need to be performed on today’s vehicles. This is often an overlooked part of the paintless dent repair industry. Finishing off Jack’s selection for his tools was his camera. Shown is the Canon EOS R with the Canon RF 15-35mm L USM Lens.  If you follow him or Sioux Falls Dent Repair on social media you will always see some type of new video and photo related content. Most of the newer videos will be released on the new camera and any live videos are shot on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus.

Thanks again to Ryan for having us on his show we really appreciate the invite and it was really fun and packed full of info!

Body Line Dent Removal – 2019 Ram 1500 Warlock

Body Line Dent Removal – 2019 Ram 1500 Warlock

Body Line Dent Removal

Here we use paintless dent removal to remove this deep body line dent in 2019 Ram 1500 Warlock right side fender. All of this damage was removed using the paintless dent repair method. With this method of repair we us specialized tools to slowly push the damage out. We started this repair off by using a tool called a Dent Dial, the model number was the 35L. We attached a soft rubber ball style tip to the end of this tool to start the first pushes. From there we switched to an interchangeable tip tool from ultra dent tools. On this tool we went with a slightly smaller tip called a R4 which indicates the size then added a red cherry cap to it to soften the pushes. From there we progressively move to a smaller and sharper tip to do the final detail work on this dent.

It’s Hot In Here!

In this repair, because of the extreme depth, we had to use heat. So what we do is setup a heat gun to constantly apply anywhere from 160-180 degrees to this damage area the entire time we are pushing this dent out. If we do not go about doing this you run the risk of the paint being damage from the extreme pushes needed to push this damage out. Heat is the number one key in this repair. Without it the paint would almost certainly be damaged with the extreme pushes we had to make to get this damaged area back out.

Glue Pull Dent Removal

Glue Pull Dent Removal

Glue Pull Dent Removal

Today we are going to be discussing using the glue pull method when performing paintless dent removal. This vehicle we are showing you here today is a Chevy Impala and it has some damage in the roof panel of the vehicle right above the drivers seat. This damage was cause when the customer was taking something down from their garage and it accidentally fell on the roof of this Impala.

Repair Method Choices

Now often times we want to gain access to the back side of the damaged area and push the area out with tools. This would have been a perfectly acceptable way to make this repair. After reviewing the damage with the customer we found that it would be more cost effective for us to remove this damage using glue pulling and pull the damage up verses lowering the entire headliner assembly and pushing the damage out. Now this is not always the case but this repair style worked great for this repair.

To Glue Pull Or Not To Glue Pull

One of the biggest factors that come into play when deciding the repair method is the excising paint finish. If this roof had been repainted before and not had its factory paint finish on it we would do everything we can to NOT glue pull on this area. Why? Because we would run the risk of actually pulling the non factory paint finish off of the car leaving a spot with paint missing and pulled off of the car. This is why it is so important to choose paintless dent repair verses going to a body shop and having your vehicle repainted. The factory paint finish is the best paint finish that you can get on your vehicle, will last the longest and has the strongest bond to the panel.
