What camera gear do we use to shoot our regular videos? Check out what we all use and what we use each specific camera system for.
Live Videos
Now this video is shot on my Samsung Note 10 Plus. This phone has a fantastic camera for not only pictures but also takes great quality video as well. We do a combination of Live videos but daily we are shooting them on our Instagram page. Be sure to follow us on IG.
Since this video was shot we have even upgraded and purchased a new cell phone stabilizer. This tool is the DJI Osmo 4. This device allows us to have it hold our phone and stabilizes the footage. This makes it much more smooth, so no more wobbly footage shot from us just holding our cell phone. Also you won’t have any of the audio issues, like before. Specifically with us moving our hand around on the microphone area and causing all of the annoying noises and muffling. If you are interested in getting any of the items mentioned in this article we have links below!
Non Live Videos
The rest of our non Live videos will now be shot on the Canon EOS R. This camera is fitted with the RF 15-35mm L series Lens. This camera is defiantly overkill to some for what we are trying to show, but we believe in having the best tools to do the best possible job and this only helps. Its built in lens image stabilizing helps with shooting footage on vehicles when we have to use the camera in our hands. As of now we do not currently own a stabilizer that will fit this camera system. We do have one but it works great on our other smaller Cannon m50 camera. The m50 is a great camera for people wanting to up their video game in our opinions but not needed by any means. Most people in our industry strictly use their phone cameras and it defiantly can make things much more simple.
With our technician Jack always loving to nerd out the way he does this was not enough and he opted to upgrade our systems to provide better content. With upgrading equipment also comes upgrading software and the time spent in the editing department though.
Hyper lapse and Time lapse Videos
If you’re not familiar with these video styles, what this is is basically a sped up version of videos where you see us working super fast. Nothing is in slow motion its all super sped up footage. A time lapse is basically individual photos taken to make a sped up video clip. A hyper lapse is something Go Pro’s can do to make the footage basically flow together better than a time lapse. For this footage style we use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black. Now our phone cameras, canon cameras will do time lapse footage but we prefer the hyper lapse look so we tend to stick with that. Plus the go pro being as small as it is and super simple. Simply turn it on and hit record. It really streamlines this process and works best for us for this.
Audio
For microphones we heavily favor the Rode mic series. Most of the time we use the Rode Wireless Go Mic on our Cannon EOS R. For other styles of shooting where a microphone on just one person isn’t enough we use the Rode NTG shotgun style microphone. This microphone allows us to pick up multiple people and sounds. This is best for interviews and some vehicle walk arounds.

Have you ever witnessed how one moment the weather seems amazing, but in the next, the mighty mother nature decides to create havoc and leaves a massive trail of damage in her wake?
Car hail damage is one of the devastating outcomes of such scenarios. Dents and dings of the size of a golf ball or a grapefruit, are often witnessed by several vehicle owners. The US alone bears an average of insured hail damage losses of about $15 million each year for both auto and home claims.
Read on further to know how hail damage assessment is done by professional technicians at Sioux Falls to ensure you can timely claim for the insurance, get your car fixed and put it back on the road.
Hail Damage Assessment at Sioux Falls Dent Repair
Often there are times when hail damage can result in a total loss for customers. But we at Sioux Falls try out best to help our customers in the best possible way to not just get their car fixed but also to claim for insurance for the catastrophic hail damage.
Hail Damage Assessment Process
When a vehicle reaches our workshop for hail damage repair, our expert repair technicians carefully assess each nook of the car for probable damage. Before initiating the fixing process, mark each damage according to its severity.
Cracked Vehicle Paint
Cracked paint is the result of an ice piece hitting the surface of the vehicle with so much force that it hits the car’s inner structure and leads to the paint cracking outwards. Our expert technician analyzes the car for any indication of cracked paint and marks it either with a circle or writes ‘cracked paint’ on the spot with a temporary marker.
Over-sized Dents
A very simple but effective way to assess over-sized dents is using a magnet that is the size of half a dollar coin as a reference to analyze hail damage. If the damage is more significant than the magnet coin, the damage is considered to be over-sized. These over-sized dents are marked with the alphabet ‘X’ for reference during the repair process.
Severe Damage
Usually, on the roof of the vehicle, there is hail damage so severe that merely repairing it cannot undo the damage. For this purpose, the vehicle will be sent to the body shop for complete replacement; Where the entire roof is cut off, and a new roof is positioned. Other parts of the vehicle are also assessed to determine if they also need to be replaced or not.
Earlier Work on Vehicle
Apart from assessing the hail damage, our expert technicians also check the vehicle for any previous work such as PDR or paint job, etc. This allows them to devise a repair plan that is most suitable and effective for the vehicle.
Insurance Claim
Apart from assessing the hail damage, our technicians make sure to take pictures of the damage and prepare a comprehensive written damage report or estimate that can be sent for the insurance claim.
How Can You Reach Us?
If you are worried about the damage that this hail has caused, then we’ll be more than happy to get you all fixed up for your hail damage, get you all set up for the insurance claim, and get your vehicle back on the road.
Give us a call at 605-205-8865 or click here for a free damage assessment.
See one of the tools we use to help us inspect vehicles for damage. It also makes for a faster inspection. This tool is the Wedge Light from Edgy Tools. This tool allows us to wedge the door upper channel open and then turn the light on and shine it into the door cavity from the top window opening.
How Does This Help
This tool helps speed up the estimating process so we can see where the damage is located in relation to the internal bracing and sound deadener in the door assembly. Prior to this tool we would have to use a separate wedge and spread the door open then use a smaller flash light and shine it in the door opening. Doing this worked ok, but the wedge light illuminates the entire door in one shot. So now we only need one tool instead of 2. Also the wedge light has an amazing battery and is rechargeable through a USB port. We pulled this out of the box when new and used it for over 9 months without recharging! Now that is awesome!

Have questions about dent repairs, tools or would you like to schedule a repair?
The weather in Sioux falls seemed to be amazing! It was sunny for the better part of the day and then BOOM!
You’re hit with a hail storm.
You look outside with sights of desperation to check if your car is parked safely, but – no, it’s not. In fact, you can even see the hail damage starting to happen. You’re hearing all kinds of dents piling up on your car, and all you can do is sit and watch.
You continue to see hail the size of a golf ball attack your car mercilessly, as you sit there, confused, thinking of your next step.
Now what?
Well – we handle situations like these every day. This is when you give a call to Sioux Falls Dent Repair. We’ll immediately get you an appointment so we can help you in your time of need.
But why would anyone need a paintless dent repair (PDR) anyway? You’ll be surprised! As it turns out – there are various advantages to getting a PDR on a hail damaged car.
Benefits you weren’t even aware of!
Keep on reading to know these advantages and let us take care of the rest!
The Benefits of PDR
Repairing Hail Damage in a Cost-Effective Way
Paintless dent repair (PDR) is a lot more cost-effective than a normal dent repair that you can get with paint. Apart from the service cost being lower than painting your car, PDR also helps you save the paint of your car. Always remember, the original paint done by the manufacturer always has the best coat, and it is also the strongest!
Try not to remove that paint!
PDR Is Faster!
Compared to painting cars carefully, PDR can be a lot faster! Depending on the damage your vehicle has sustained, it may take only a few hours! If the hail-storm was a big storm and many cars were damaged – you might have to wait weeks for regular hail repair. That is why we recommend going for PDR!
PDR Is Environmentally Friendly
The paints that are used on cars can be highly toxic fumes. These fumes can cause lung damage. They also release dangerous toxins that become a part of our environment that can harm animals, too. Since there is no paint involved in the PDR process, your footprint on the environment will be minimal!
You also won’t have to worry about polluting breath-taking Sioux Falls!
Retaining Value
A traditional dent repair will make use of different kinds of materials. These materials can be body fillers and paint that will be used on damaged areas. The use of these extra materials on your car’s body can reduce the value of the car.
On the other hand, PDR will help you maintain your car’s value. If you leave your car to a skilled technician, they will rectify the hail-damages your car sustained by using exclusive PDR procedures and tools. Because of their skill and the PDR method, the original factory look of the car won’t be altered. You’ll also be free of any concerns related to color differences or over spraying.
Is Your Car Eligible for PDR?
To learn more about PDR, drop by at our convenient locations or contact us now! You can also get a free damage assessment to understand the situation better.
When we are not removing dents on vehicles we are working on the backend part of our business. This evening we will be getting a hail damage web page all setup and integrating our CRM system into it through a form builder. Once this system is done it allows us to automatically follow up with customers after they have submitted their info on our website. This system can email, text, call, leave a voicemail and much more. It’s a really great system to use.
It’s still in progress now at the time of this release but check it out:
