PDR Light – A Must For Any Dent Removal Inspection!

PDR Light – A Must For Any Dent Removal Inspection!

PDR Light – A Must For Any Dent Removal Inspection!

Today, we are fixing a crease dent on the right side fender of a Dodge Ram pickup truck and discuss the importance of using a PDR light for not only repairs, but also for preparing estimates and carrying out inspections.

A PDR light allows us to see the actual scale of the damage – something a normal cannot provide. As you can see, under the store lights, not a lot can be distinguished in terms of the dent and the damage on the fender. It is relatively invisible unless the dent is pointed out. However, when the PDR lights are focused on the area, the damage becomes instantly visible. The entire length of the crease dent can be seen clearly.

Getting a dent like this out requires us to gain access through the headlight so we had to remove it before getting to work. Plus we noticed another small dent just above the headlight so taking it off would allow us to repair both dents easily. Something else that helps us see dents clearly is the ceiling in our shop. There are lines across the ceiling and the reflection of those lines gets distorted on the top-facing panels that we have to fix.

The owner of the car is one of our repeat customers and he has approached us on quite a few occasions, even with a different car. So, he’s just one of the many happy customers we have at Sioux Falls Dent Repair. We will be working on the fender and some other minor dents in the door before we get the truck back to him.

PDR Accessories For Dent Removals

PDR Accessories For Dent Removals

PDR Accessories For Dent Removals

In today’s video, we look at some of the tools that we use here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair to keep panels partially opened while we work on the damage.

We used the first tool on the Mazda we repaired a few days ago and kept the door opened so that we could get the dent out without having to remove the door itself. It is called the Anson PDR Door Jammer and is designed by Derek Yost. The Door Jammer is lightweight, made from aluminum, and is great for holding panels open.

The next tool we have is a Hood Prop-N-Lock from B and D Tools but can be used on doors and other panels quite easily. One of the best things about this tool is that it can be extended for a more versatile repair experience. The Hood Prop-N-Lock is especially great for lift gate assemblies without having to remove them completely.

Finally, we have the Tailgator from B and D Tools once again. This is one of the best tool to partially open a tailgate and keep it open firmly so that we can gain access and get the damage out successfully.

All the tools we’ve just seen are available on AnsonPDR.com as well as BandDTools.net.

Leverage Accessories for PDR

Leverage Accessories for PDR

In today’s video we are going to go through a couple of the leveraging tools that we use at Sioux Falls Dent Repair to push out dents and repair some of the damage using PDR. The idea for this video came from one of the earlier videos we made about the hood props and how they help hold panels open so that we can work better.

We use hangars that hook onto the panel we’re working on and we can then use that for leverage and get our tools to do the work. The original “S” hooks work great but they are not as durable as the latest ones available now. We have one of the first Edgy Tools hangers that works amazingly to get out dents and damage with ease. It simply hooks onto the underside of the panel and we can put a tool into the space in the hanger to give us a lot more leverage to push out a dent. The upgraded version of the hanger comes with an extra hole for smaller tools for a more precise finish to any job.

The next tool we use is called the 3-Way Step Hanger. This tool takes away the need for hooking up two smaller hangers as it comes with three different points of leverage. It also makes working on multiple dents easier as you don’t have to remove the tool to get to the next point of leverage. Another hanger from EdgyTools that we use quite often is the Ninja Flat Bar Hanger. This tool is perfect for using a dent dial and is probably the best and most durable dent dial leverage tool in the market.

The Magnum XL hanger is another tool that comes in handy when we need to get rid of larger dents and need to use bigger tools. The hole on the Magnum XL is, as you can see, bigger than the regular which might not allow bigger tools to pass through.

All the tools listed here are extremely durable and probably impossible to break or even bend when using them for dent repair work. They are quite versatile and can be used on practically any panel on a car.

What Tool Is That? – Paintless Dent Repair Tools

Today, we’re going to be looking at one of the PDR tools that was posted on the Instagram feed and we got a lot of questions about.

The tool itself can be separated into the handle and the main component called the Tequila Door Lord from Anson PDR. They are available in four (4) different sizes and do originally come with ratchet handles, however, the upgraded handle we use is a lot more comfortable and easier to work with.

The handle we use is called the Guerrilla Grip which is also from Anson PDR but was initially made by John Highly. It is a “T” handle design but can be disconnected and assembled as a longer handle if needed. Anson PDR does have other designs including a longer handle that comes fitted with a rubber ball at the end. The first time I got to use this handle was at the Dent Olympics Training Event this year at MTE. I actually used the Door Lord on the Mazda repair and people were asking me about it.

NFC? What is it and how can it help your business!

NFC? What is it and how can it help your business!

NFC? What is it?

Today, we are going to talk about NFC and how it can help you take your business to another level. NFC or Near Field Communication is the process of wirelessly communicating between two objects through touch. This feature was initially seen on smartphones and is now making its way over to other products.

We are going to dive deeper into what we use here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair and that is NFC stickers or tags. There are different versions of these NFC tags and each one can be programmed to do something different. We have a couple of stickers and have integrated them into our business cars that were designed by Dave Streen and his team at DentRepair.com.

All it takes is a tap on the back of a NFC-compatible cellphone and the information that we program pops up on the customers device. As you can see, the first business card redirects the customer to our Google My Business Review Page so that the customer can leave a review almost instantly. We take out the frustrating business of looking for the review page so that our customers don’t waste their time and effort.

BUT WAIT… THERE’S MORE!

Another business card we have redirects the customer to the Sioux Falls Dent Repair Contact Us page. In the webpage, the customer will find all the information they need to get in touch with us including our shop number, cellphone number, email address, shop address, and all of our social media platforms including, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. It always displays our certifications along with other information you the customer might be looking for.

Finally, there is a third option in our NFC business cards. The NFC tag on this card is just a little bit bigger but still fits perfectly on to the card. What does this tag do? Well, once it is connected to a cellphone, it will automatically add our contact information into the customer’s device. Everything from the owner’s name (in this case, Jack Bucknell), business name, direct cellphone number, email address, shop address, and the web address is automatically added to the customers phone.

These business cards are perfect for trade shows and seminars because we can pass out our information with just a single tap. Even if you wanted to give out these business cards like regular business cards, they are extremely cost-effective so you wouldn’t feel it. Plus you don’t need a computer to program them – just a cellphone and an app and you’re all set. If you want to get your hands on these NFC tags, check out www.DentRepair.com. The possibilities are endless when it comes to these NFC tags and they can only help your business.

So, if you want to incorporate these NFC tags into your business, get in touch with Dave Streen or check out www.DentRepair.com for more information. Or, you can get in touch with us and we will be happy to help you out. If you have any questions or queries, feel free to call or text us at 605-250-1023. Mazda Dent Repair

Mazda Dent Repair

Mazda Dent Repair

Today, we are working on a ding on the front right hand-side door of a 2017 Mazda CX5 car. Even though there is just one visible dent in the door, under the dent repair lights, we can see that there are a couple of micro dents as well that need to be taken care of.

In a traditional PDR case, we would roll the window down and install a window guard before running a tool down the side of the car and pulling out the dent. However, this car has laminated safety glass and we don’t usually put a lot of pressure on this type of glass. Why does this glass type change our repair technique? Find out Here

In this case, there are two ways to get to the dents. Either we can find another access point to get to the dents or we remove the glass completely. Luckily for us, this Mazda comes with a factory access hole in the handle and this allows us to get a tool into the door and fix the dents.

As you can see, the door jammer we are using is from Anson PDR and keeps the door from moving while we complete the repairs. We can use a factory ratchet handle from PDR Finesse to slowly push the dents out from the inside of the door. The owner of the Mazda actually came to us for their 2017 Hyundai car and they will be bringing that in once we are done with this job.
