Today, we will be following up on the discussion we had a couple of days ago about motorcycle dent repair. We spoke earlier about the Motorcycle Tank Vice and the PDR for motorcycles, and today, we will be diving into the various tools that we here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair use to work on motorcycles.
All the tools showcased here are available on Ultra Dent Tools and as we mentioned in the previous video, if you are getting into motorcycle paintless dent repair, you should be buying all the tools and accessories. One of the biggest reasons for this is because motorcycle repair tools are actually a lot stronger than car repair tools.
One of the commonly used tools is the Soft Tip Wheel Lip which can be used practically anywhere on the motorcycle but is predominantly used to get out dents from around the gas lid/gas hole. The accessory that fits onto the wheel lip is also from Ultra Dent Tools and is called the adjustable T-Handle. It allows us to use the tool from any angle we need and get the dent out using as much or as little leverage as is required. There is also an extension rod that fits onto the end of the Soft Tip Wheel Lip and makes it longer so we can reach further and get to dents even better. All the Wheel Lips allow interchangeable tips so we can use different tips for different jobs without having to actually replace the tool entirely. Most of our interchangeable tips come from Edgy Tools and they work equally well on cars as well as motorcycles.

Motorcycle Paintless Dent Removal Tank Vise – MPDR
Today at the Sioux Falls Dent Repair HQ, we are going to be talking about a motorcycle tank vice and how we use it in the shop. The one that we use is from Ultra Dent Tools and is actually used for not only motorcycle tanks, but also for fenders and other panels as well.
With this specific model, there are other accessories that can be attached to make any type of repair work easier. While the first version only came with a single center post, the new version, called 2.0, now comes with a back post for better stability. However, the first version was designed for mobile repairs and could be attached to the back of a truck for repairs on the go.
Since motorcycles are more rarely used this time of the year, it will be the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to get some repair work done or even some modifications done to their bikes. The motorcycle vice makes it easier to hold the tank in place so we can work on it without having to worry about the handlebars getting in the way. Plus, the metal used on some of the bikes out there is a lot thicker than what is used on cars so we need all the leverage we can get when pulling out a dent from a motorcycle tank.
The vice itself is extremely adjustable and maneuverable so that we can work on a panel from different angles without complications. The version 2.0 also comes with a “tool bender” addition that allows us to use different types of tools such as a dent dial to get out all kinds of damage.

In today’s video, we are revisiting a job that we discussed a few days ago – the massive dent on a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan. We will be looking at Glexo Cold Glue and how it works when it comes to removing dents from car panels.
Cold glue is exactly how it sounds. While almost all of the commonly used glues in the PDR industry require some kind of heat to help it adhere, the Glexo Cold Glue does not. How it works is that you simply apply a small amount to the pull tab of your choice and it adheres just enough so that the dent or damage can be pulled out without over pulling or extending the damage.
As you can see, the majority of the dent on the Tiguan has been pulled out but there is a lot of work that needs to be done before we can hand it over to the owner. In fact, almost 90 percent of the damage has been taken out with just cold glue and a slide hammer. We did knock out some of the crowns and do some blending as well. We also used a small amount of hot glue to get out some of the smaller dents, but it was amazing to see how much of the damage we could get out with only cold glue. We still have not removed the panels or pushed on the back sides of the cars yet and we have gotten rid of 90 percent of the damage.
If your interest has been piqued, you can get your hands on the Glexo Cold Glue from their website at www.GlexoTools.com. With the hot glue, we used the KECO K-Bar to get out some of the damage. The Glexo Cold Glue is definitely the best cold glues available for PDR and is something all PDR technicians must have in their shops. The Glexo tabs are also made of metal as opposed to the regular tabs that are made from plastic. They are also adjustable and lock into the slide hammer which prevents them from coming lose, falling to the ground, and collecting dust and dirt. One of the best things about the Glexo Cold Glue is that is the tabs are reusable and they come with an extra pack of glue for when the strength of the original starts wearing off.
To get the glue ready, all you have to do is work your fingers over it till it gets stickier. Then, all you have to do is put the pull tab on the damaged area and use the slide hammer to knock out some of the damage. It can be used again if needed but it usually takes about 2-3 pulls to get out a reasonably sized dent. We will continue working on the car and get all the damage out before the customer comes to pick up the car on Monday.

In today’s quick video, we are tackling some crease-style dents on the hood of a 2019 BMW X3. According to the owner, they came out from a restaurant they parked at and saw the dents on their car’s hood.
The hood of the X3 is made from aluminum and has absolutely no access points on the back of the hood which is why we had to opt for the glue pulling method for removing the dents. Fortunately, we here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair have a lot of experience in glue pulling and own some of the best pull tabs in the industry.
As you can see in the “after” footage, the dents and other damage was completely removed and the hood looks as good as new.

Today, we are answering one of the common questions we get asked and that is; “Should I Buy a Vehicle with Hail Damage?” We have actually had two cars come in on consecutive days where the customer purchased the vehicle with hail damage already on it.
We here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair, get calls from across the country on a regular basis with customers wanting to get an estimate of how much it would cost to get out hail damage on a vehicle they are thinking about purchasing. Also, we get calls from customers who have already purchased a hail damaged vehicle and are looking to get the damage out.
Our advice to anyone looking to buy a hail damaged car is to not do it because it doesn’t matter how big a discount you got on the car, it will never cover the cost to repair the hail damage. Out of the two cars that came in with hail damage, one was a 15-year-old Chevrolet Equinox and the customer got an $800 discount on it from the car lot where they purchased it. However, when the customer brought the car in, it turned out that there was several thousand dollars’ worth of damage. Even when the customer requested that we look at a specific part of the car, our estimates were higher than the $800 that they received as a “discount” from the car lot.
These kind of cases are deemed total losses by the insurance companies and car dealerships therefore have no other option but to sell them at a lower price. Nevertheless, the sellers never run at a loss and entice customers with “unbelievable” price cuts and discounts. We have come across cases where the cost of repair supersedes the price of vehicle. So, any hail damaged vehicle should be avoided at all costs unless you get the car for free or the damage is very minor.
This brings us to the follow-up question we get asked. “What is the vehicle has very minimal or medium amount of damage?” Again, with us being in this business for so long, we have seen a lot of hail damaged cars and generally the estimates for those vehicles end up being anywhere between $3,000 – $5,000. That number goes up with heavier damage and drops when the damage is not as severe. When it comes to $800 – $1,000 in hail damage repair, a regular car owner won’t even recognize the damage because the damage would have to be that minimal.
Another common mistake customers make is think they have a couple of dents on their car and ask for an estimate based on that and here is when we ask them to bring the car into the shop because we know that there cannot just be a few dents after the vehicle was caught in a hail storm. It is only under the PDR lights that the true extent of the damage is visible.
There is a lot of work before we can actually start getting the hail damage out and we inform the customer of that in our estimate. On a bigger job where hail damage is throughout the body of the car, without actually touching any of the damage, we first have to remove the hood, take off any kind of assemble (if there is any), remove the trunk lid, take off the headlights and taillights, both the front and/or rear bumper, and other panels. The cost only to have these panels removed and installed (R and I), is about $500 – $800. So, as you can see, buying a hail damaged car and then looking to repair it just does not make sense.
Eventually, the decision is the customer’s and it all depends on the situation. If a customer is looking to buy a cheap car just to drive it, a relatively new hail damaged one can save them a pocket full of cash. However, if the customer is buying a hail damaged car to fix it and then resell it, it is definitely not worth it.

As you can probably see, the dent is not only big, but quite deep as well and we are going to have our hands full. But, we like a good challenge here at Sioux Falls Dent Repair and we can’t wait to get started. Although no one likes to dent their brand new car, this is the perfect PDR candidate where the body line is crushed in. Initially, we’re going to use the glue pulling method to get the majority of this dent out and then we can remove the internal trim to get better access to the panel’s back side. Being a new car, we had to take off some of the trim to see what kind of access we would get so that we could give the customer an estimate.
Although no one likes to dent their brand new car, this is the perfect PDR candidate where the body line is crushed in. Initially, we’re going to use the glue pulling method to get the majority of this dent out and then we can remove the internal trim to get better access to the panel’s back side. Being a new car, we had to take off some of the trim to see what kind of access we would get so that we could give the customer an estimate.
Fortunately for us, the customer was going out for the weekend so that gave us a lot of time to properly work on the car and get it back to its original, or at least close to its original look. We also did a pre diagnostic scan like we do with all our repairs here just because we have plans on taking off the trim and disconnecting electrical components as well.
